vhs conversion service

What does the service do exactly?

Our VHS to DVD converter can record your VHS tape onto a computer via a VCR player and then burn the recorded file onto a USB drive. It can also be saved digitally as an MPEG file. The entirety of the VHS tape must be played as it records, so process times vary.

We are also able to convert Hi-8 camcorder tapes. Note - there are other ‘mini VHS’ format tapes out there, but we only have the tools to convert Hi-8 tapes.

Use our service to convert all those old home movies and family videos to a usable format. Once on the USB drive, you can transfer the data to a computer and share.

Another Option: Borrow a Converter Kit to Use AT HOME

The library also offers a kit that you can borrow and take home with you in order to convert old VHS yourself! In our Library of Things collection, we have a kit available that includes a VHS player along with a ClearClick Video to Digital Converter tool. This will allow you to easily convert your own VHS tapes at home with the VHS provided in the kit. These kits are available to borrow for free with your library card.
